Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a six week class designed especially for parents and legal guardians of children with special needs. (There is also a version for geriatric care offered through the MSU Extension office.)  It covers stress reduction, communication techniques and the importance of self-care.
 
Peace Place and MSU Extension offer this class free of charge. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it will be offered online. Each class is two hours, and the course is six weeks long. Please register using the button at left - there will be multiple classes offered based on demand.

The "new normal" of schooling from home isn't easy for anyone, but it is particularly hard on families with children with special needs. However, this is an excellent opportunity to begin NOW to think through what your child most needs at school...and at home. Especially if the home-based

Louisa Libertelli-Dunn has a masters in special education from St. Johns University, and 30 years of experience working with families and teachers to finetune IEP goals and to address challenging behaviors in all settings.

You can ask Miss Lou for help!  Priority will be given to families already enrolled in Peace Place.

Parent Support Group

Peace Place offers a parent support group that meets weekly to support parents of children with medical diagnoses and/or developmental delays.
